On Monday 11 May 2010, President Mary McAleese announced Siobhán Parkinson as the first ever Irish Laureate for Children's Literature, Laureate na nOg.

Siobhán's most recent book is Dialann Sár-Rúnda Amy Ní Chonchúir, from Cois Life.
This is the first time Siobhán has published a book in Irish. It was published in 2008, and and has won an Oireachtas Award. Watch out for news of the English version of this book.
